Knee arthrosis: treatment and symptoms

Arthrosis is a fairly common disease triggered by metabolic diseases, trauma, or non-specific infectious arthritis. The disease causes deforming changes in the tissues of the joints and the surrounding bone joints.

What is osteoarthritis?

knee arthrosis

Arthrosis is a fairly serious disease that affects the joints. The disease thickens the damaged joints and surrounding bones. The pain occurs during tension and gradually decreases at rest.

Osteoarthritis of the knee joint, which has very different causes, does not cause an inflammatory process, so it does not manifest itself in the form of edema and redness, which is different from arthritis or polyarthritis.

It should be noted that many women suffer from diseases - varicose veins and obesity.

Why does the disease appear?

Osteoarthritis is an unexpected disease that occurs for the following reasons:

  1. Overloads
  2. Traumas
  3. Hereditary predisposition
  4. Obesity
  5. Straight legs

How to diagnose a disease?

Grade 1 osteoarthritis of the knee joint - the initial stage of the disease, which is able to perform joint treatment with timely treatment. In the early stages, the movements are limited and the areas of the joints begin to become covered with bone. At this stage, it is almost impossible to detect osteoarthritis of the knee joint, which is very different in treatment: X-ray examination will not show visible bone growth. The main symptoms are sharpening of the joint edges and narrowing of the intervertebral space, which can be detected by a doctor during the examination. Additional ultrasound and MRI scans of the joints are scheduled to clarify the diagnosis.

Typically, patients experience a short tingling sensation in the joint and a hoarse sound when moving. Painful sensations appear after rest and pass quickly while walking. Such "initial" pain is caused by friction of the joints where cartilage and bone destruction (detritus) are located.

In the early stages, osteoarthritis is not a serious concern, so patients do not pay attention to the symptoms. Therefore, if there is the slightest suspicion of osteoarthritis of the knee joint, treatment should be carried out immediately.

How to treat knee osteoarthritis

Before you start fighting the disease, try to find a good doctor and develop a joint treatment plan after a thorough examination. Do not diagnose yourself, it can make the situation worse. There are many similar diseases, so you can be wrong in the definition of the disease without examination.

When confirming the diagnosis of osteoarthritis of the knee joint, treatment is prescribed depending on the stage of the disease. At the initial stage, when the joint is more or less protected, it is recommended to carry out drug treatment with chondroprotective drugs. Today they are presented in a very wide range. Regardless of the choice, the drug is taken for up to 6 months. It is recommended to repeat the course of treatment after six months. The duration of treatment is from 3 to 5 years.

It should be noted that creams and ointments do not relieve the patient from osteoarthritis, but relieve pain. It is recommended to use warming drugs that help improve blood circulation.

Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of osteoarthritis of the knee can be treated only by the attending physician. It is recommended that they exercise daily and follow a diet. Try not to overload your joints. Doing so can adversely affect your health. Once you are done, try to gradually increase the load and prevent pain.
